Snore Pillow Scams? Will It Work?

Snore pillow has been touted on the internet and TV as one of the safest, easiest and cheap snoring solution to solve your snoring problem. (Aside from an anti snore oral appliance which I highly recommend) Is that true and will it work for you? This article aims to answer just that. I will also talk about one of the most popular snoring pillow on the Internet, the SnoreEzzz. Please be aware that sometimes snore pillow is called in multiple ways such as snoring pillow, snore relief pillow and even anti snore pillow. They essentially mean the same thing so don’t sweat it.

There are many types of snore reduction pillow on the market. Some are effective and some are not. Most of them are quite expensive and can be uncomfortable to sleep with. First of all, there appears to be two types of pillow in the market. One is the “normal” anti snoring pillow that lets you sleep on your back and another type of pillow seems to be designed so you will always sleep on your side. One such pillow is the FDA approved SONA pillow.

The first type of pillow like SnoreEzzz snore reduction pillow is designed to be slept on both side and on your back. It allows more flexibility for those who can’t seem to sleep on the side or for those that doesn’t find any reduction in snoring when they tried sleeping on their side. For those who don’t know, sleeping on your side has been shown to reduce snoring for light snorers. Some people reported that even average snoring stops when they sleep on their side. Because of this, there has been a lot of tips and tricks on how to sleep (or force yourself) on your side. One of it is stitching a tennis ball on your back.

The normal snore pillow works by regulating your airflow. This is achieved by making sure that your spine, throat, and head is straight. If you are going to buy a snore pillow just make sure you choose one that is hypoallergenic, which means it won’t cause an allergic reaction in most people. If possible, you should try to sleep on it for a while just to test whether it is suitable for your head. Sometimes the pillow is too high for your head or too low. The only way to find out is to sleep on it for a few minutes and let your head sink on it. If you feel uncomfortable or if your neck doesn’t feel straight then this is not the pillow for you. Also, if possible, choose a pillow that allows you to machine wash it and has a removable pillow case. This is very important because spot cleaning is really troublesome and you will need to clean it often. (especially if you have an over active saliva gland)

As for the side sleeping only SONA snore pillow it would be hard for me to give you a recommendation. This is because some people find it really comfortable while some find it uncomfortable and leaving them with a sore neck in the morning. The reason for this is because SONA snore reduction pillow is especially designed to make sure that you sleep on your side. The weird shape doesn’t allow back sleeping at all. So if you are a back sleeper and find it almost impossible to sleep on you side then this might not be for you. However, don’t dismiss the SONA anti snore pillow just yet (actually its called the SONA anti snore and mild sleep apnea pillow because it has two function) because a normal pillow is actually not conductive for side sleeping. A pillow that is designed for side sleeping might leave you even more refreshed and comfortable. There has been so many reports about this pillow being all around just real comfortable that I had to compel you to at least try it out. Its not that expensive and worth the risk. Who knows, your spouse might be fighting over this pillow even though he or she doesn’t snore.

The only legitimate concern might be that you have to adjust your position in order to get comfortable. Sometimes you have to try multiple positions for a few night in order to get the one right position for you. Also, SONA pillow is FDA approved as a pillow for medical device so you might want to put that into your consideration. Anyway, SONA snore pillow uses something called SofLof fiber. Even though its called SofLof it is actually pretty firm. However, the more you sleep on it the softer it will get so the pillow will get more comfortable as time goes by. (This doesn’t mean that it will go too soft so don’t worry about that)

While we are talking about the material of the pillows lets get into another popular material which is the memory foam. It is very popular for those who are seeking custom pillow because it actually conform to your head and how heavy it is. There are of course pros and cons in every material.

For example, a memory foam may be too soft for you and the position of your neck might end up in a crooked position. And like i mentioned above, this will increase resistance to your air flow and cause you to snore. Yes, you can get a firmer memory foam snore reducing pillow but what good does it do if you are the type who shifts and turns when you sleep. It is simply too “soft” to act as snore relief pillows. This anti-snore pillow is so ineffective that you are better off getting a snoring mouth piece or the snoreEezzz snore pillow. (On a side note, a memory foam neck pillow for cars are great!)

OK, this article is long enough as it is. Let’s conclude the article shall we?

To stop snoring, I would recommend that you get an anti-snoring pillow recommended above. It cradles your head comfortably and in a natural way and some even come with custom pillow case, which is nice. The support your neck receives will even solve some neck and/or shoulder pain. At worse, this pillow improves sleeping and is an effective sleep apnea treatment.
